Meet the Artist
Mariah Ave' Williams is a Maryland-based artist born and raised in Prince George's County. They received their B.A. from Morgan State University and an MFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art. Williams is a recent graduate of the LeRoy E. Hoffberger School of Painting. They currently live and work in Baltimore, MD. Williams has exhibited work in multiple Baltimore City community spaces and group shows, such as The Eubie Blake Cultural Center and the Peale Museum. Williams has also participated in group shows in New York in spaces such as Thierry Goldberg Gallery.
Mariah’s work is largely autobiographical as she draws on her journey of introspection and mining through their collective and individual identities for visual inspiration. While often combining methods of painting and drawing to create a unique experience of intersecting mediums, their work focuses on an exploration of gender identity and internal magic layered with the intersectionality blackness and queerness bring to painting.
